Become Your Own Soul Mate

Painting is by Mahmoud Farshchian

You are preparing to marry your Beloved, Your Best Friend and many of you would say, your Soulmate. How incredible that the Spirit of Love has blessed you with such a gift. Perhaps one of the greatest possible in our human journey. As a conscious relationship coach, and a great champion of LOVE lasting and deepening over the course of your marriage I have an offering for you to consider.

BECOME YOUR OWN SOUL MATE! The relationship we have with our own SELF and what ever we relate to as the Great Mystery, is truly the foundation for all our relationships, especially the one that we want to be our most intimate, most enduring and hopefully most fulfilling. There is an odd and interesting paradox about love and fulfillment. To the degree that we know how to meet our needs in our interior world and in our connection to LIFE, we will be able to show up, be present and able to give and receive love with another human being. AND… to the degree that we know our own vulnerabilities, wounds, and moments of struggle, when we are having a hard time finding our solace inside, we can come to our partner, honestly and openly asking for their support to help us find the hidden treasure once again. What a joy it is have this kind of relationship. Two souls who have learned to dance with the Source of Love Within and bring all that magic to each other.

Please enjoy this exquisite poem by Fred LaMotte.

Become your own Soul Mate

and dance with creation.

Every tulip, every toadstool

is your significant other.

You love Dog as much as God.

The grizzled stranger is your cousin.

His face is a treasury of freckles

bequeathed to your children.

You even fall in love with the fallen one

deep inside you, the abandoned

shadow of your shame.

Love dances cheek to cheek

with dragons

who turn into angels when you kiss them.

Don't seek your better half in another:

that's lack reflecting lack.

50% of you, plus 50% of me

is not a relationship,

it's a pity party held in a mirror of tears.

Each atom of you wants to whirl with

stardust and angels

in distant galaxies that spiral

to the rhythm of your body breathing.

If anyone asks who you're dancing with,

say, "Dizziness itself!"
