For all of you who have chosen the path of committed love and relationship, I just might be your greatest champion. My life commitment is to support LOVE thriving in our world. As the wonderful Dion Warwick song says ” What the world needs now is love sweet love. It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of”.
In my humble opinion, being blessed by what I call the Spirit of Love, and finding the one single person in the whole wide world that is your life partner and Beloved is one of life’s greatest treasures. There has to be some magic involved when two people, out of almost eight billion, connect and realize that they have a deep enough love, respect and kinship with each other to choose to make a life long commitment to each other.
The thing is….the path of committed love is perhaps THE most challenging one in all the world also. It is a big enough task to learn how to love and care for your self and your own life, so taking on that calling for two requires a very strong connection, a willingness to invest in keeping love alive, and learning the skills and practices that will help you do that for decades to come.
The amazing thing that I have learned about relationships of all kinds and especially the ones that are the most intimate is that they are actually a powerful call to growth. As much as we may think that the reason we are choosing another as our life partner is that they take care of us, we are actually choosing them because they are the perfect catalyst for our own personal development. The alchemy that happens when there is love and the day to day dynamics of living close up and personal is both transfixing and transformational.
There are some fundamental shifts in perception that most couples need in order to comprehend the power and the possibility of a truly life long, fulfilling partnership and marriage. There are also some powerful, often simple practices that are essential that both partners agree to in order to create the safety, respect and heartfelt connection that we all long for.
